Bringing 5 established Mississauga artists into the Malton Youth Hub for a weekly bootcamp on the power of the spoken word, the elements of a good performance, and ultimately a chance to compete in the River Mouth Cypher in the Finale.
Kicking off the 2025 programming with Junia-T in the Malton Youth Hub and book-ending our series of workshops with an exclusive Remix Project Youth Takeover featuring alumni from the highly-lauded performing arts program.
Live inside The Rec Room Square One, the River Mouth III Finale will feature artist showcases, youth showcase cyphers, and the main event - The River Mouth Cypher - where artists will compete live for $500.
Junia-T’s release “Studio Monk” was long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize, a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian album. Actively releasing and performing music since 2012, Junia-T is currently traveling the world as Jessie Reyez’s tour DJ.
Junia-T will be hosting our opening workshop on October 2nd as well as a headlining performance as a part of our finale concert on October 25th inside The Rec Room Square One.

MDRA reaches the hearts of her listeners through her enchanting and infectious sound. Featured in Mississauga Arts Council’s Sauga Music Now Live Mixtape presented by Junia-T at Metalworks Studios. She was also a co-headliner for The Hustle’s Mississauga debut at The Rec Room in 2024.
Heavy G and J.O. Mairs are two seasoned Mississauga emcees from an era where bars and lyrical skill were still a main focal point of rap music. The chemistry between the two emcees can be highly credited to the spirit of competition - not wanting to be out-rapped by each other.
Hip Hop recording artist, record producer and film/video director from Mississauga, Rich KIdd is a two-time Juno Award nominee and winner of the Rap Recording of the Year in 2015. Rich Kidd serves as the Recording Arts Manager for the Remix Project, helping level the playing field for talented youth facing barriers in arts and entertainment.
Together with graduates from Remix Project’s program, Malton youth will participate and showcase what they’ve learned from the 4-weeks of workshops, sharing their talent with their community. An all-youth panel discussing real-world challenges in the arts.
At the end of the 4-week workshops, the participants will have an opportunity to perform for the community and Rich Kidd, the music director for Remix Project.
The 40oz Heroes founder Jawn Taboika is turning 40, so what better way to celebrate than with a public humiliation. Hosted by Big Norm and featuring a dais of once-close friends.

Live at The Rec Room Square One, our third annual show is set to be a true celebration of Hip Hop and rap in Mississauga. Saturday October 25th.
The prolific Polaris Award shortlister and Mississauga native will be performing a taste of his finger-drumming, live-production with some special guests to help rock the mic for this special River Mouth III Headline performance. Junia-T, who is also delivering a workshop as a part of the series, will be guiding the participants with his professional experience in the game. Show meets tell.
Canadian beatboxer, 2-time Canadian Beatbox Champion, and the host of the Grand Beatbox Battle since 2016. A master of sound and ceremony, he is known for his technical skill and showmanship, and he can famously recreate any sound or genre of music with his voice.
MC and recording artist from Toronto, Inferno is known for his freestyle and improv skills. He combines "golden era" influences with modern sounds, focusing on lyrics that address social issues and personal growth.
This 4-week program is open to anyone looking to upgrade their skills in rap, spoken word, freestyle, and recording arts.
